Ousted Fiji PM urges police to investigate treason complaints

Fiji's ousted Prime Minister, Laisenia Qarase, is urging the authorities not to ignore an official complaint laid against Fiji's interim Prime Minister.

The SDL has lodged a formal treason complaint against Commodore Frank Bainimarama and the military.

Mr Qarase said police should not take sides but work diligently on the matter.

He also dismissed claims by the Police Commissioner Commodore Esala Teleni that a complaint against the Commodore was an abuse of process.

The official complaint includes Commodore Teleni.

However the Police Commissioner claims the SDL is using its position as a political party to influence decisions that must be made by the courts.

Fiji Live says Mr Qarase has already lodged a complaint against the interim Prime Minister, which is still before the court
