Samoa will next week increase its rates for taxi and bus fares.
It is based on a recommendation from the Transport Control Board, chaired by the Minister of Works, Transport, and Infrastructure, Tuisugaletaua Sofara Aveau.
The Board's secretary, Tusa Misi Tupuola, says the increase is the result of the continuing increase in prices for fuel and spare parts for public transport.
Bus fares will increase to 29 percent, while taxis will go up to 16 percent according to the secretary.
