A 28 year old man in Tufulele village in Samoa has been charged with the murder of his 48 year old father.

The assistant police commissioner and spokesman, Papalii Li'o, says the deceased was allegedly assaulted by his son who was under the influence of alcohol.

Meanwhile the police have urged night club owners in the country to take precautions after a young man was shot in a club in Apia last week-end.

Papalii says the owners have been asked to provide security checks for everyone entering the clubs to ensure no one is armed or carrying a dangerous weapon.

A man has been charged over the incident.
