A preliminary count in Palau's primary election has indicated the Palau president-vice president team of attorney Johnson Toribiong and Delegate Kerai Mariur has taken a narrow lead.

The magazine, The Pacific, reports that the Palau Election Commission has counted just under half of the estimated 14,800 ballots cast in the September 23 presidential primary vote.

The two top vote getting teams will face off in the November 4 general election.

The Toribiong-Kerai team has 1,891 votes to current Vice President Elias Camsek Chin and his running mate, Senator Alan Seid, who have 1,867 votes.
