Niue advertises for a High Commissioner

2:49 pm on 25 September 2008

The Niue Government, in an unprecedented move, is advertising the position of High Commissioner to New Zealand.

Previously the country's sole diplomatic post has been filled by a senior public servant.

The current High Comissioner to NZ, who returns to Niue in December, is

Siselia Talagi, a former secretary to the government.

Earlier this month the Government announced it would close its trade office in Auckland as a cost saving measure with one suggestion that those services could be provided out of Wellington.
