Samoa's Ministry of Health is predicting a drop in the number of dengue fever cases this month.

As of the third week of September 57 people had the virus compared with 219 in July and 281 in August.

The ministry is however is concerned that not all cases being treated are being reported by doctors.

A Committee has been set up to monitor the spread of the disease and it's drafting future strategies.

Meanwhile New Caledonian officials say 1000 people have been infected since the beginning of the year and they're worried about new infections, because the wet season will start soon.
