Alleged PNG bank robbery mastermind charged

The alleged mastermind of a series of daring bank robberies in Papua New Guinea, William Kapis Nanua, has been charged with six counts in connection with the robbery of the Bank South Pacific at Kerema in Gulf Province in May.

The charges are five counts of unlawful detention and one of armed robbery, with more pending.

Mr Nanua is alleged to have been involved in the kidnapping of five people in Port Moresby two days before the bank heist at Kerema.

He is also expected to be charged in relation to the Madang BSP bank robbery, and the alleged murder of a policeman in Kimbe.
