Representatives of a global resort developer group are in American Samoa to see whether to develop a resort destination there.

The group, BSB Design of El Dorado Hill, California, working with Economic Resource Associates of San Diego, California are working on a study to identify the economic sustainability of American Samoa as a resort destination.

Sources say the research paper they put together will be incorporated by the government into its tourism plan.

Chamber of Commerce president David Robinson says the group met with Governor Togiola Tulafono during the recent American International Real Estate Expo and Conference in Los Angeles.

He says the Chamber is interested in what the group has to say about culture because the Samoan culture is very important for any tourism and eco-tourism development.
