The US Department of Interior has awarded the American Samoa Power Authority a technical assistance grant of a quarter of a million US dollars to study wastes at the Futiga landfill.

A statement from ASPA says the waste composition study is vital to ASPA's efforts to establish an energy form waste facility.

In announcing the ASPA grant, CEO Michael Keyser explained that the waste composition study will be an invaluable resource in ASPA's short and long term internal solid waste master planning.
