Leaders of Fiji political parties optimistic over future direction of Fiji

Leaders of Fiji political parties who attended the dialogue forum convened by the interim Prime Minister have expressed optimism about the future direction of the country.

Fiji Live online reports the deposed Prime Minister, Laisenia Qarase, described the meeting as a positive development which was "conducive for the future".

Fiji Labour Party leader and former interim Finance Minister Mahendra Chaudhry described the meeting as a positive event.

And the National Federation Party's national secretary, Parmod Rae, said nothing specific was discussed and delegates were free to express their views at the meeting.

He said there should be something concrete by December.

The Party of National Unity delegate and former Cabinet minister, Meli Bogileka, said the meeting is a start.

And the Fiji Law Society President, Dorsami Naidu, said he was happy with the developments at the meeting.
