Fiji ban Chinese milk products

5:41 pm on 4 November 2008

Fiji authorities have imposed a three-month ban on all Chinese milk and milk products.

The measure is being taken in light of the Chinese milk scandal.

At least four Chinese babies died and thousands became ill after drinking milk contaminated with the chemical, melamine.

The Interim Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, imposed the ban and the Fijilive website reports he also ordered an investigation into the stock that has been imported to see if the products contain melamine.
