Fiji's interim Minister for Youth & Sports, Filipe Bole, says the country's athletes need to get more serious their participation at regional and international meets.
The Minister made the call while speaking at the launch of Team Fiji's Campaign for the 2009 Mini Games.
Mr Bole said it's important for the athletes to understand that simply being selected into Team Fiji should not be the ultimate objective.
He said it is time for athletes to think more about winning and not just participating, which would require a change in mind-set for a lot of local sportsmen.
