A 19-year-old Samoan youth was beaten to death close to his home at Vailele on Friday night.
The Samoa Observer newspaper reports that the victim's five alleged attackers were from the neighbouring village of Letogo and have since been arrested by police.
A witness told the newspaper another young man from Vailele is in serious condition in hospital after also being beaten in the attack.
The beatings followed a disagreement between youths of the two villages which started on a bus.
It's believed that knives and broken bottles were used in the attack.
The village council of Letogo is monitoring what punishment the courts will mete out for the alleged assailants.
According to Vailele residents, the village Council of Letogo presented a formal apology to the family of the deceased and the apology was accepted.
