Samoa's Police Commissioner, Papalii Lorenese Neru, who is being investigated over the smuggling of firearms from American Samoa, says he asked a police officer in American Samoa about shotguns for hunting, but denies asking him to obtain them.

A package of guns was sent to Papalii Neru after being carried from Pago Pago by the Samoa police launch, the MV Nafanua.

He has previously told the Commission of Inquiry he was shocked to find the guns inside a box of personal effects delivered to him from American Samoa.

The inquiry has been adjourned until tomorrow to allow the commissioners to visit the MV Nafanua.
