A prominent lawyer in Samoa, Tole'afoa Solomona To'ailoa, has been chosen as the President of a newly established political party in Samoa.

The People's party says it plans to run in the 2011 general election.

Tole'afoa says he is optimistic the outcome of the elections in two years should reflect the continuation in change of government as recently witnessed in the results of the United States, Australia and New Zealand elections.

Tole'afoa has confirmed running against the Minister of Works and Infrastructure, Tuisugaletaua Sofara Aveau, in the Vaimauga East constituency.
