Fiji's national airline, Air Pacific, says it expects some financial strain with the introduction of new services to Australia's Gold Coast but it is looking for longer term gain.

The two weekly flights will bring to 24 the weekly services between Australia and Fiji.

"Air Pacific's, general manager of Sales and Marketing, Michael Nacola (Na-tho-la) says it will take time for the change to produce a profit, but he says it's the obligation of the airline to introduce new services."

IN:......That's part of the responsibility that we carry so there could be short term pain for longer term gain and that's kind of the responsibility that we showed on behalf of Fiji tourism in general.
