New Zealand's Acting High Commissioner to Fiji could be expelled today

There are reports in Fiji, New Zealand's Acting High Commissioner to the country, Caroline McDonald, is likely to be expelled today.

Fiji Live online says it's been told by a senior Fiji government official that Ms McDonald's expulsion will take place today.

The diplomatic standoff has been sparked by New Zealand's decision not to renew a visa for the son of another Fiji official.

It's part of New Zealand's ban on travel by members of the Fiji government, military and members of their families.

New Zealand's Foreign Minister Murray McCully and Fiji's interim prime minister Frank Bainimarama have been trading letters over the issue this week.
