Solomons police find huge store of illegal alcohol

Fifteen hundred litres of kwaso, or home brew alcohol, have been seized by Solomon Islands police.

Seven people have been charged with a variety of offences under the Liquor Act.

The Solomon Island Broadcasting Corporation says the operation involved over 100 officers from the Royal Solomon Islands Police, the RAMSI Participating Police Force and RAMSI soldiers.

Five search warrants were executed simultaneously by police on dwellings in Honiara and kwaso, cooking utensils and equipment used to manufacture the illegal alcohol were seized by police and taken to Central Police Station.
