Fiji's interim Minister for Primary Industries says four sugar mills will be undergoing upgrades next year as part of the interim Government's plan to revive the sugar industry in the country.

Joketani Cokanasiga says it would work together with the other sugar stakeholders to see that the mills are upgraded and the necessary equipment are in place for next year's crushing season.

He says the sugar mills have closed and are dismantling and restoring equipment.

Mr Cokanasiga says by the beginning of the crushing season in 2009 the mills will be in operation.
