Fiji's Air Pacific is to stop flying to Japan

Fiji's Air Pacific is to stop flying to Japan in March, replacing it with flights to Hong Kong in June,

The Japanese market to Fiji has declined over the past few years.

Tourism Fiji's Patrick Wong, says the flights to Hong Kong may help ease what could be a difficult year for the tourism industry.

"I think it's going to be exciting with Hong Kong. You know, it's an exotic destination, there's a large expatriate clientele in Hong Kong, and not only that, we're looking at using Hong Kong as a hub to access into Europe. So that will actually access more into the UK, Continental Europe, as far as Russia, also into China and India too as well."

Patrick Wong says while it is exciting, it will also be a challenge, but he's looking forward to when flights start on June the first.
