Fiji police arrest alleged fraudster also wanted in Vanuatu

Fiji police have arrested an alleged fraudster who escaped their custody last year and also remains wanted in Vanuatu in connection to a massive fraud case.

Radio Fiji reports that Salendra Sen Sinha was arrested in Sigatoka yesterday and is now in the hands of the Lautoka Police.

Several businessmen, a local lawyer and a supermarket owner have also been arrested for harboring Sinha when he escaped police custody while awaiting to appear at the Lautoka Magistrates Court.

Sinha is wanted for over forty counts of obtaining money by false pretences.

He is also alleged to be the mastermind of Vanuatu's biggest ever fraud case involving about 300,000 US dollars.
