A group of Samoan educators in Hawaii is seeking to increase the number of Samoans living locally who are enrolled in the university system.
Presently the majority of Samoan students are from American Samoa and Samoa.
The Samoa News says statistics indicate that in 2007, about 500 students of Samoan ancestry were registered but the majority did not live in Hawaii.
A conference has now been organised to address issues of education of Samoans in Hawaii.
The Samoa News reports the main objective of the meeting is to come up with strategies to empower and motivate Samoans in Hawaii to aspire, achieve and succeed in attaining college education.
