The question of whether former member of parliament Toi Aokuso should be granted Sunday parole has been raised in a debate in parliament in Samoa.
Faleata West MP Lealai lepule Rimoni Aiafi made public that he had requested the Minister of Police and the court to allow Sunday parole for Toi, who is serving a life sentence for killing cabinet minister Luagalau Levaula Kamu.
But in Parliament this week, MP Tapuai Sepulona Moananu from Salega, where the slain minister was from - objected saying Parliament was not the place to seek approval of Sunday parole for Toi Aukuso.
He said the matter was for the court to decide, not Parliament.
In response, Lealailepule accused Tapuai of seeking points by commenting on his request.
