American Samoa governor issues new conduct guidelines

American Samoa's Governor Togiola Tulafono has laid down some ground rules for directors in terms of professional and personal conduct.

In his first cabinet meeting of the year, the governor said that he expected directors to be law-abiding citizens during and after work hours, and also advised them not to be hasty in making personnel changes.

He also told directors he expects them to use email and if they do don't know how, they should enrol in computer courses offered by the library.

The abuse of government vehicles was also a focus of discussion.

Togiola told the cabinet that ASG license plates need to be changed because the current design does not identify the ASG departments that the vehicles belong to.

He said people are reporting abuse of government vehicles but the current design makes it difficult to trace who the culprits are.
