Four Papua New Guineans were killed and seven were critically injured when a bus veered off the road and rolled down a slope.
The newspaper, The National, says the accident happened on the Highlands Highway in Morobe Province.
Those injured were taken to Lae which is about 90 kilometres from the crash site.
The newspaper says the driver fled the scene fearing reprisals from locals.
