A former politician in Solomon Islands is accusing the country's leadership code commission of intimidation and violation of media freedom.

The leadership code commission has summoned two journalists, who had written articles alleging the wrongdoing of several MPs, to verify their source of information and support the investigation.

Alfred Sasako says summoning reporters to reveal their sources is unheard of.

"The leadership code commission has issued summons to journalist and they were to force them to reveal their source of information. That's going overboard, reporters are there to report about issues of public interest."

Alfred Sasako the leadership code commission should be doing its investigation properly without intimidating the reporters.
