ANZ Amerika Samoa bank says customers facing problems should make contact

11:27 am on 17 February 2009

ANZ Amerika Samoa Bank is advising bank customers who may have difficulty meeting loan payments to contact the bank for assistance before their payments are due.

With some companies laying off staff or reducing hours, Bank President David Whitby says the bank is willing to work with customers to help them out during the slowdown in the economy.

He advised that the bank would give consideration on a case-by-case basis.

Mr Whitby says that its apparent that residents are feeling the pressure of higher food prices and if anyone is having difficulty meeting payments.

He says it's better that they make contact with the bank before their loan payments are due rather than wait, which may prolong their delinquency period.
