Tuvalu buoyed by funding from Oceania Football Confederation

The president of the Tuvalu Football Association says doors have opened thanks to a boost of up to 70-thousand US-dollars over a three-year period from the Oceania Football Confederation.

The OFC and Tuvalu signed a memorandum of understanding last week.

The agreement means OFC will provide technical sporting assistance, financial support as well as financing the under-11 team in order to take part in this year's OFC Youth Festival.

Tuvalu's president, Tapugao Falefou says now its able to take part in regional and international tournaments.

"It has now become reality that Tuvalu is getting these funding support of course the end result that we are trying to achieve is to see if we can further develop the game in whatever ways that we can."

Tapugao Falefou says its long-term dream is to become a full member of OFC and FIFA.
