The Pacific Concerns Resource Centre in Fiji says various human rights groups are challenging police to enforce domestic violence laws against abusive men.
This comes in recognition of International women's day today.
Tupou Vere of the PCRC, a body which works alongside the National Council of Women says violence is still a problem in Fiji.
She says various women and human rights groups are calling for authorities to intervene and help stop violence inflicted on women.
"This is again another example of a challenge you know that is still face by women in our country and by people generally."
