Gold Ridge Mining in Solomon Islands says it complies with all Solomon Islands and international laws and regulations regarding the environment and health and safety.

The Solomon Star reports the company denies claims that three employees have been ill after exposing to cyanide.

In a statement, the company confirms carrying out regular monitoring of the environment in and around the regional mining area.

It says rainwater recently tested had very, very low levels of cyanide from past operations.

The statement says the levels were at the lower limits of what a laboratory can even detect, and far lower than safe exposure limits for humans or even for drinking by animals and birds.
