Tourist numbers for last October up in Fiji

Visitor arrivals to Fiji for October last year totalled 50,118, an increase of 3.7 per cent over 2007.

The Fiji Islands Bureau of Statistics says visitors from Continental Europe recorded the highest increase of 19.3 per cent, bringing their total to 2,453.

Other increases were recorded for visitors from New Zealand, Australia and from Pacific Islands that recorded a five per cent increase to 2553.

However, the report noted decreases for the month from South Korea, the UK , US, Canada and Japan.

The statistical summary indicated that from January to October last year, visitor arrivals showed a 10 per cent increase over 2007.
