Marina redevelopment in American Samoa passes first hurdle

In American Samoa, the Malaloa Marina redevelopment in Pago Pago has passed the first of several hurdles to get the project moving.

The project has been given the green light after a lease agreement between the government and a local company to develop the marina was certified last Friday.

Governor Togiola Tulafono signed the long term lease early last month but the final signatures including one from the Attorney General's Office, were given on Friday and then officially notarized.

The Chamber initiated the move for the redevelopment of the Malaloa Marina and has sought the governor's approval for the project.

The Chamber of Commerce president David Robinson says it will be undertaken by a newly formed local company called Marina Development Limited.
