Fiji businessman pleads for continued economic investment in Fiji

A Fiji businessman has made a plea for other countries not to penalise Fiji.

The country's military government faces growing isolation as it entrenches its position, clamping down on critics and censoring the media.

The president of the Fiji Landowners Association, Ratu Osea Gavidi says Fiji is feeling the impact of the global economic slow-down, and the response of other governments to political events will make things worse.

He says travel advisories warning tourists about travel to the country aren't helping.

Ratu Osea Gavidi says investors need to know Fiji has strong local leadership, and calm prevails despite recent political events.
