The Niue Court of Appeal is to sit on the island for the first time this week.
Previously the four New Zealand judges have heard appeals on Niue High Court cases in Wellington.
In the one week sitting they will hear a number of land disputes.
The High Court Registrar, Justin Kamupala, says no decision has been made on whether the Court will sit on the island on a regular basis.
"I suppose it depends on the circumstances and also depends on Government and the resources available. We just had some resources this time around that enabled us to do this. So other sittings later on will be subject to whatever resources are available."
Meanwhile Justin Kamupala says one of the judges is expected to stay back a week and sit as a High Court judge to hear criminal, civil and land matters.
