The Northern Marianas could name a new Lieutenant Governor as early as tomorrow, after Timothy Villagomez resigned at the weekend following convictions for fraud.

Finance Secretary Eloy Inos has been nominated by the Governor Benigno Fitial and a decision by the Senate is expected by tomorrow.

Villagomez resigned after he was found guilty of all charges relating to a scheme to defraud the Commonwealth Utilities Corporation.

He faces up to 20 years in jail for the offences.
