CNMI students receive less financial support from government

The Northern Marianas Government last year allocated just over three thousand US dollars per public school student.

This is the lowest such figure in the past 14 years and just two thirds what was spent in 1997.

The fall reflects the dramatic drop in Government revenue in the CNMI.

With federal support the spend per child reaches nearly six thousand US dollars but this is far short of the nearly ten thousand dollars spent on children on the US mainland.
