The Singaporean broker involved in the Taiwan scandal involving proposed diplomatic relations with Papua New Guinea has been sentenced and jailed for two years and four months by the Taiwan Supreme Court.

The Post Courier reports that the Court confirmed the jailing of Wu Shih-tsai, who had promised the previous administration of President Chen Shui-bian that he could persuade PNG to establish diplomatic relations with Taiwan.

It has also been revealed that the prosecutors and investigators are still looking at the possibilities of calling Papua New Guineans allegedly involved in the scandal.

The paper says a Taiwanese prosecutor told it that both countries had different laws that made it very difficult for them to even have a word with the group.
