Reports from Papua New Guinea says one of its diplomats in Solomon Islands has left Honiara after being assaulted.

The Post Courier reports that the unnamed individual had angered the relatives of a girl who had had a relationship with him that resulted in her getting pregnant.

PNG's foreign minister, Sam Abal, says he is concerned over the conduct and actions of PNG diplomats overseas.

Mr Abal says he is awaiting a report on the incident.
