Samoa to attend Small States Financial Crisis meeting in Washington

11:14 am on 2 June 2009

Samoa will be the only representative of the Pacific region at this week's Small States and the Financial Crisis meeting in Washington D.C.

At the meeting World Bank officials will be aiming to find out the effects of the financial crisis on the small island nations.

A Samoa government statement says policies and regulations to help minimize the effects will also be looked at during the two day meeting.

The Samoa Minister of Finance, Niko Lee Hang, and a senior officer of the Ministry of Finance will be attending the meeting, with the Minister presenting a paper on selected themes.
