American Samoa's Attorney General, Fepuleai Afa Ripley, has given assurances that his office will ensure that the canneries meet their obligations under the guest worker law.

Fepuleai says his office will be meeting with the canneries to go over the requirements of the guest worker law for the return of workers who were brought in under the special permits.

The law which was passed in 2007 stipulates that once a guest worker ceases employment at the cannery, they must leave the territory.

The law also makes it the employer's responsibility to meet costs of repatriation , and any unpaid expenses of the employee.
