NZ parliamentary committee consults Pacific community

7:09 am on 22 June 2009

Consultations will begin in Auckland today for Pacific people to give their views on New Zealand's relationship with the Pacific.

Parliament's Foreign Affairs and Trade select committee will also hold a meeting in Christchurch this week.

The Committee's chair National MP John Hayes says they want to take Parliament to the people.

"What we are trying to do is to informally get out and talk to Pacific communities in their backyards, rather than asking them to come to Wellington or to engage in a really formal process."
