The Premier of Malaita is urging villagers to look after their new mobile phone services that have just been launched.

The Solomon Star reports the telecommunications company Our Telekom released its mobile services to residents in Malu'u, north of Malaita for the first time yesterday.

The Premier, Richard Na'amo Irosaea, has congratulated Our Telekom for providing modern technology to people living in rural communities.

The paper reports the Premier saying the new services will greatly assist health providers, police, and schools.

He has also encouraged the business to keep expanding into the province and be prepared to face up to competition in the market.
