Family Planning International is calling on Pacific government's not to cut investment in health and education in the face of the global financial crisis.

Jackie Edmond, the chief executive of Family Planning in New Zealand, says that giving women the opportunity to control the size of their family has been shown to be an economic plus.

She says as governments look to provide economic stimulus, it allows greater productivity.

"The research show us that if you invest in women's health, particularly women around education and health, that you get more money back than you put into it."
