The final budget call for Fiscal Year 2010 by American Samoa's Budget Director has set the ceiling for department requests at four percent below their budgets for fiscal year 2009.
The Budget Director Malemo Tausaga said with the closure of Tri Union Samoa Packing it's projected that the government's revenues for the new fiscal year will be impacted.
Therefore executive budget cuts have been implemented for departments and agencies ahead of the anticipated shortfall.
The Budget Director alerted departments that there will be no new positions and vacant positions will be eliminated.
