Fiji is considering a rehabilitation package for farmers

Fiji is considering a rehabilitation package for farmers who lost their cows and earnings after a brucellosis virus outbreak.

The illness affected close to 300 cows in the Tailevu district, forcing their slaughtering.

The Fiji Times quotes the Agriculture Ministry's permanent secretary, Dr Richard Beyer, as saying the state would ensure farmers will be given help.

He says Fiji is expecting overseas assistance and this would also ensure a supply of anti-bacterial drugs.
