American Samoa's Attorney General clarifies entry permits issue

8:44 am on 15 July 2009

American Samoa's Attorney General, Fepuleai Afa Ripley, has clarified that travelers to the Territory using entry permits may still use copies of their entry permits.

However the sponsor or person in American Samoa who applied for their permits must present the original at Tafuna airport or the Fagatogo port on or before the passenger's arrival.

Fepuleai's clarification was sent to all airlines yesterday afternoon.

His letter followed an earlier memo sent to airlines by the Chief Immigration Officer, Ufuti Ieremia, last Friday that said passengers entering the Territory must now travel with an original entry permit and not a copy.

Over the weekend inter Samoa airlines refused boarding passengers who did not have the original copies of their entry permits
