Netball New Zealand has appointed Casey Williams as the new captain of the Silver Ferns.
Coach Ruth Aitken says the experienced Waikato-Bay of Plenty Magic defender is a formidable competitor and widely respected across the netball world.
Aitken has named a squad 15, with the Northern Mystics captain Temapara George back after a two year absence and new-comers Camilla Lees from the Central Pulse and Charlotte Kight of the Canterbury Tactix.
The rest of the squad is: Liana Barrett-Chase, Wendy Telfer, Katrina Grant, Sheryl Scanlan (Southern Steel), Maree Bowden, Anna Thompson (Tactix) Paula Griffin (Pulse), Joline Henry, Laura Langman, Maria Tutaia and Irene van Dyk (Magic),
Up to three further players may be added to the squad after the Silver Ferns trial in late August.
Erika Burgess (Steel) Jodi Tod and Jess Tuki (Magic) and Larissa Willcox (Tactix) have been invited into the trial.
The 12 players to play a World Seven will be named on August 21.
