American Samoa receives funding for coastal programmes

The Department of Commerce in American Samoa is to receive 964,000 US dollars for the continued implementation and improvement of the American Samoa Coastal Zone Management Programme.

The funds come from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration through the US Department of Commerce.

Governor Togiola Tulafono says the funds provide ongoing support of the Coastal Zone Management Programme administration, enforcement, village wetland protection and ocean resource planning, public outreach/education, non-point source pollution abatement, staff training and permit processing/monitoring programs and activities.
