5:31 pm on 21 August 2009

About half the population of Niue has attended a memorial service for a young policewoman who perished in the Tongan ferry accident two weeks ago.

Sisiliah Puleheloto was serving with the RAMSI contingent in Solomon Islands and is believed to have drowned when the Princess Ashika sank.

She was holidaying in Tonga.

The sombre service on Niue coincided with a service conducted by RAMSI police in Honiara where Sisiliah Puleheloto was serving in a community

based section with other officers from around the Pacific.

She was an active member in youth work on Niue and an avid sportsperson.
