American Samoa's Assistant Attorney General Lisa Teesch Macquire fully supports legislation which make voyeurism and stalking crimes in the territory.

Ms Teesch Macquire said that the onset of modern technology has made voyeurism a common practice across the United States.

American Samoan Representative Maugaoalii Leapai Sipa Anoai asked Ms Macquire during a hearing on the legislation being considered whether this was happening in the territory.

She said she has only seen a couple of cases but that the technology to facilitate it is becoming more available:

"And how easy it is to possess camera that is in a pen that no one knows is a camera or a camera that's in a flashlight that no one knows is a camera, or in your cellphones as well... so as that technology comes to the territory, I think the territory's in greater danger of seeing a lot more of these types of offences."
